Minutes of the January 12, 2006 Quintessential Quilters Meeting
The meeting was called to order at 7:10 by President Joanne Purcell. Four
guests were welcomed and January birthdays were recognized.
- After drawing names from a hat, Geraldine Mincy will receive the May
sewing room makeover.
- Due to the schedule of the NQA show, the June meeting is cancelled.
- Janet White told us that the NQA show is June 8-10 at the Hyatt
Regency. Thursday evening will be a "gathering" featuring Shelly Zegart. Mike
Weatherby encouraged everyone to consider making a Little Quilt for the
auction.
- The QQ retreat happens at the end of February. Advance instructions
for the mystery quilt were available at the meeting.
- Dorothy Adams' church is offering a bus trip to the Chicago Quilt
Festival April 6-9. The cost is $388.00. Call Dorothy for more information.
- Shirley Stutz will teach at the Church at Mill Run on January 20-21.
Call Julie Tate at the church for reservations.
- Please let Joanne Purcell know if you would be interested in serving
on a nominating committee for next year’s officers. Since May is the last
meeting of the year, elections are on a short time line.
- Joanne is also looking for greeters for the February meeting. We
expect a crowd to hear Ruth McDowell. Guests are welcome and are asked to pay
$5.00 to attend her lecture.
- Judy Krol had more information about Ruth McDowell’s visit. The
project will be from the Designing from Nature project on her website. Kathy
Kiser will order books through Quilt Trends. Joanne will pick up large foam
core (for a design board) and deliver it to the workshop for $5.00 (pre-paid).
The workshop is full!
- Wendy Bynner brought lots of quilt parts and quilt kits for Choices.
- Teri Tope and Leslie Floyd presented the evening’s program with
illustrated do's and don't's for entering a quilt show and preparing your
quilt to ship and show its best.
- Show and tell completed the evening.
Respectfully submitted,
Jane Hedge, Secretary
